Course Description:
Join Dr. Mandeep Johal as she shares her experience with airways, orthodontics and myofunctional therapy. We will discuss some of the clues to look for when meeting your patient, and what you can learn regarding airway health, and orthodontic consideration through extraoral and intraoral findings. Joined by special guest, Joe Siegfried, Dr. Johal will walk you through a real-life case presentation to see the power of collaboration.
Learning Objectives:
Part 1:
1. Learn what a Tongue-tie is (in both adults and children)
2. How to assess for Tongue ties - (An Easy Tongue-tie Assessment Form will be provided)
3. Discover the symptoms of Tongue-ties and understand the whole-body connection.
4. Learn how I treat Tongue-ties
5. Understand the importance of Myo-Functional Therapy for pre and post Tongue-ties in a guest interview with Dr.Johal's dental hygienist, who is trained in Myofunctional therapy, Shannon Barcic RDH.
Part 2:
6. Discover what and why of the Airway orthodontics (An Easy Airway Orthodontics Assessment Form will be provided)
7. Learn how to assess for sleep disordered breathing (SDB) (A Sleep Questionnaire form for pedo/adults will be provided)
8. A case study of airway orthodontic treatment will be shared
9. The Team approach- myo/body work to be discussed
10. A guest interview with Dr. Mandeep Johal and Joe Siegfried RDH (and Myofunctional Therapist) as they share a special case that is close to Joe’s heart.
