Course Description:

 

Increase your comfort zone with Classifications of Periodontal and Peri-implant Disease and Conditions in a layering approach. The skills needed to assess, analyze data and apply the classification tools are reviewed. Knowing the answers to when, how and why to apply the classifications will increase your commitment to its use.

 

We will examine case studies, incorporate ADPIE, including the Classification system and create Dental Hygiene Diagnosis statements to record in the progress notes.

 

The goal is to utilize the Classification of Periodontal and Peri-implant Diseases and Conditions, confidently incorporate the systems common language to communicate the importance of findings to our clients and document. The client's classification will guide the person-centred care treatment plan and, ultimately, the interventions needed for disease management.

  

 Learning Objectives:

  1. Review assessment strategies to collect the data necessary to apply the classification system
  2.  Identify and classify health, gingivitis and periodontal disease and conditions
  3.  Recognize signs and classify peri-implant disease and associated condition
  4.  Create DHD statements and document
  5.  Understand the benefits of the classification system
