Course Description:

Oral health and systemic health are closely intertwined, and research suggests that poor oral health can lead to several systemic health issues. This connection is attributed to the chronic inflammation and bacterial infection that may originate from the oral cavity and spread to other parts of the body. Oral pathogens can cause various local and systemic diseases, such as dental caries, periodontal disease, endocarditis, and pneumonia. Recent evidence suggests that oral pathogens may also contribute to the development of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, oral health can affect the immune system and inflammatory responses in the body, affecting overall health. Therefore, maintaining good oral health is crucial for overall systemic health and well-being.

Course Objectives:

  1. Understanding the relationship between oral health and systemic health.
  2. Learning about the various oral pathogens and their role in causing local and systemic diseases.
  3. Acquire strategies and specific verbal skills to increase the acceptance of your treatment plan.
  4. Understand the relevance of Genetic testing and DNA analysis to assess patient risk and guide treatment recommendations.
